Basic Inversions

Inversions are used to reverse the effects of gravity on the organs and blood flow. Because we spend many hours a day standing or sitting, taking a few minutes to get upside down can be very restorative and reinvigorating. The two classical standing poses are headstand (sirsasana) and shoulderstand (sarvangasana), known as the king and queen of the asanas.
